Well friends the sun is currently shining through my curtains, Jon Foreman is blasting on the stereo and I feel great! Today is going to be a good day, the stormy weather that was following me around for the past while has cleared and I'm ready to embrace what is to come. PRAISE THE LORD!
My body is so filled with excitement right now it's disgusting. My friend and I are about to embark on our own "Most excellent adventure" . Her birthday is coming next week along with her reading break and I booked the whole week off of work so we can initiate what we will refer to as "Super epic birthday week." We intend to re-hash all of our radtastic adventures such as going to Saltspring, Victoria, and a myriad of crazy experiences in between. I am so stoked! You know the type of friend I mean, the one who knows you inside and out, knows just what to say when you need to hear it, and most of all, loves you not for who you are but in despite of who you are. I have many good friends but very few compare to this girl. The thing is, this little lady friend of mine, is really the only one who just "gets" me. We've been buds since the seventh grade but it really wasn't until we graduated that this huge bond grew between us. We have so many memori...
Well we are officially done our second week of camp and what a whirlwind it has been. I'm not going to lie that it doesn't exaclty feel like camp for me. Maybe it's that I'm in the office and not fully connecting with the kids in a typical camp fashion. But I'm enjoying myself for the most part nonetheless. My goal this summer is to connect with one camper a week on some sort of extra special level. So far I'm succeeding. During junior high one; I was on stage singing in Q-Town and there was this girl right up front. She was wearing a t-shirt that said "Ya'll need Jesus" and I was like I NEED TO KNOW THIS CHILD! She was dancing away and singing her heart out and it was just so lovely. I sneakily asked her cabin counsellor what her name was and decided to write her a letter for mail time the next day. I just wrote how much she encouraged me with her free worship and her bright smile. She then found me later in the week and said how muc...
Gahh okay people if you didn't know already you are soon to be educated. I, Amy Pickard, love musicals. That's right I said it, now if you encounter me on a regular basis you may have noticed I frequently burst into song, on occasion I dance down grocery store aisles and I have been known to wear some rather extravagant outfits. Like I said, musical theater is kind of my thing. So last night Les Mis (one of my all time favourites) was on the televison I let out a little squeal of "THIS IS GOOD" and cuddled up on the couch to sing along. Lemme tell you, I was not dissapointed. PBS tends to put on these showings of live performances be it David Foster and all the people he discovered or an epic Symphony of some sort but I was thoroughly suprised to see Les Mis. Now here is an added tidbit of info that made this production even more special. Nick Jonas, member of the Jonas Brothers phenomenon played Marius. I must admit I was a little skeptical at first but as the show c...
